The Brazilian Navy (MB) will incorporate new deep-sea tugboats into its fleet.
The three AHTS ( Anchor Handling Tug Supply ) vessels, Sea Stoat, Sea Fox , and Sea Vixen , which will be reclassified in the Brazilian Navy, belong to a series of nine ships built by ABG Shipyard Limited in Mumbai, India, and were launched starting in the second half of 2011.
Each tugboat has two RRM Bergen C25: 33L8P diesel engines, each with 2560 kW (6800 BHP), coupled to two AGM RRM 600 gearboxes and two shafts and two propellers.
The auxiliary propulsion system consists of three CAT engines , each with 425 kW, plus an emergency unit with 99 kW.
The fully loaded ship reaches a maximum speed of approximately 14.5 knots. The fuel tanks have a capacity to store up to 804 m3 of diesel.
The heavy lifting equipment (cranes) is electronically controlled via joystick . A modern fire fighting system ( Fire Fighting I ) allows the simultaneous operation of two high-pressure water lines.
The ships can perform simultaneous liquid discharge through two independent stations. The crew of 28 men was divided into four single cabins and 12 double cabins.
Navigation and communication equipment includes, for example, the Furuno FR-2115 radar, the Furuno FE-700 echo sounder, the Furuno DS-80 log, the Sperry Marine Navigat X Mk2 gyrocompass, and the Sperry Marine Navipilot V HSC autopilot, radio station 2570, and VHF station FM-8800S.
